Making Money Online Secrets
It is hard to make money online. Don't let clever web sites
and glowing promises of quick wealth fool you. There are
some steps that you can take to achieve your hopes, dreams,
and goals.

Here is what one person said, I will call Steve, about his
experiences with doing business online:

"I started looking for ways to earn a little money over two
years ago when my company started having layoffs and I was
damn scared I was going to lose my job. I worked for a
good company, and an okay job, but after this first round
of layoffs, I figured it was a good time to begin building
an insurance policy in case I got fired. And honestly, it
would also be nice to have another income stream (to buy a
new car, take a nice vacation and to finally pay off the
credit card bills and start saving). I thought about
taking a second job but I wanted to have a life and I enjoy
spending free time with my family and friends. So I
started looking for ways to make money myself!"

"I spent the next several months trying almost every
business opportunity and even tried MLM. I was ripped off
and scammed a few times with various 'get rich quick'
schemes and I lost over $2000 in 4 months trying them. I
almost gave up. Besides wasting money and trying all of
those programs - my performance at work started to suffer."

So here is what you can do about this:

#1. Don't give up on your plans to succeed at a business
offline. Discover what is holding you back from the success
you rightfully deserve. I call this unlocking your dark
secrets.

#2. Use online ventures as a way to supplement your main
goal, which might be to have a thriving home or independent
business in your local community.

#3. You will need a "killer" web site to attract visitors
with something called a splash page. There are some
wonderful ones for free that will also pay you to advertise
your site.

#4. Discover how to get 24 hour free support via the phone
or e-mails for your online business. Increasing your
support systems is one of the keys to unlocking those dark
secrets.

#5. Sell your own products and services rather than
strictly going for the affiliate business.

#6. Develop multiple streams of income on your web site.

#7. Give away free stuff on your web site to get people to
sign up for your business list.

#8. Find ways to sell your product or service on eBay.
There are many other online auctions that can help too.

#9. Find inexpensive ways to promote your web site with
search engines. Some sites will help you promote your
business to millions of sites for only $4 or less.

#10. One of the best ways to get your business out there is
by writing articles. Go on a search to discover how this
can be done.

Don't be afraid to reach out for help to create a plan with
goals, objectives, and a system of overcoming your dark
secrets. You have the right to have a better life today.

Tips to Work from Home
Are you interested in working from home? If so then you
should definitely check out these work from home tips.
Working from home is very desirable, but it is not as easy
as it sounds. That is because when you are at home you are
in "home mode" and not "work mode". These distinctions are
important to make because if you do not make them and
figure out a way to create a "work mode" while at home you
will not get much accomplished. The following tips will
help you create a work from home atmosphere that will work
for you.

Tip #1 Work Hours Everyone likes the idea of working from
home because they can make their own hours. However, if you
do not have set work hours on certain days then you will
find that it is not as easy to accomplish work from home
like you imagined. As a result, decide on some work hours
each day and then stick to them. If you need to change them
for any reason that is okay, just reschedule those work
hours at another time. This may seem silly at first, but
you have to control your schedule in order to complete your
work.

Tip #2 Work Space In order to successfully work from home
you will need a set workspace. The reason this is important
is that you need to know where your workspace is and that
when you are in that area you are in work mode. In
addition, if you use your entire house your office then you
will misplace things and make working from home more
difficult on yourself. You may not have space for an office
so to speak but you can make a place where you only work
from home.

Tip #3 Turn off the TV When you are at home, you may always
have the TV turned on. This is normal because people like
to keep up with what is going on in the world as well as
their favorite shows. However, the problem is that if you
have the TV on you will not be able to accomplish as much
work. That is because you will be distracted, constantly
looking up for a few minutes here and there, and your work
will suffer. If you really want to take advantage of the
opportunity to work from home and make the most of your
time then turn off the TV. You will get more work done and
then can sit down and watch an entire show without feeling
guilty about it!

There are of course many other work from home tips you can
implement to help you accomplish more and make the most out
of working at home. However, the three mentioned here are a
really good start and if you implement these you will see
immediate results. You can work from home, but you must be
disciplined and focused or you will not get very far!

Dyslexia in the Workplace: Disability or Talent?
In the UK, dyslexia is covered by the provisions of the
Disabilities Discrimination Act, and meaningful protection
is afforded to dyslexic thinkers through this means.

However, is the disability framework for understanding
dyslexia actually harming dyslexic interests rather than
furthering them?

Essentially, there are four distinct challenges involved in
creating a dyslexia-friendly workplace, each of which needs
to be addressed comprehensively in order to create a
workplace culture in which diversity of thinking style can
be comfortably accommodated - and harnessed to the creation
of commercial success.

First, there is the issue that, as we discovered through
our NOP-commissioned research last summer, around 2 million
adult dyslexic thinkers are not aware of their dyslexia.
This is most likely the result of poor diagnosis a
generation ago, but also of lack of clarity around what
exactly dyslexia is.

There is a huge need for employers' awareness training that
is not clinical, but rather gives a direct and subjective
experience of what it is like to be a dyslexic thinker - so
employers can start to use their intuition to determine
when an employee may be a dyslexic thinker, and provide
appropriate help.

Secondly, all the dyslexia support in the world will be of
no avail to an employee who is frightened or ashamed to own
up to being a dyslexic thinker. In our organisation, we
have worked with dyslexic adults who had never told anyone
about their dyslexia, who woke up with repetitive
nightmares about "being found out", and who felt it was
easier to "come out" as gay in the workplace than as
dyslexic.

And this is the problem with a legal framework that
classifies dyslexia as a disability - it intensifies rather
than alleviates the immense stigma around dyslexic
thinking. We have spoken to dyslexic students who refused
to apply for the Disabled Student's Allowance because they
were so horrified by the name. Let's not underestimate the
psychological effects of calling a bright and gifted
thinker "disabled".

The elephant in the room is that dyslexia is not a
disability, but a thinking style. Dyslexic thinkers excel
in visual-spatial tasks involving whole-picture thinking
and finding original and creative solutions to things. In
2003, the BBC's Mind of a Millionaire series commissioned a
research piece into the thinking style of British
millionaires and discovered that 40% of those polled were
dyslexic thinkers. A more recent study by the Cass Business
School established a 35% correlation between dyslexia and
entrepreneurism in the US.

The disability framework for dyslexia is a convenience, but
a harmful one. It is a convenient way of assuring
protection to dyslexic thinkers in the workplace - at least
on a superficial level. It is convenient for employers and
educators because it does not require us to become curious
about the dyslexic thinking style and explore its potential.

Yet this is where the disability framework is harmful. For
the third challenge that we face in the workplace is
creating an environment where dyslexic thinkers can grow
their skills. Disability support is essentially a series of
props that presents precisely that from happening - because
disability theory preassumes a person will never be able to
master a certain skill.

Our organisation specialises in an approach which enables
dyslexic thinkers to harness their natural talent to any
learning challenge. From our work, we know that with the
right approach, dyslexic thinking becomes a learning tool,
not a learning difficulty. If a school has failed to teach
a child to read and write, wouldn't it be exciting if the
workplace were an environment where these skills could
finally be unlocked? In most cases, this creates an
immensely grateful, loyal and eager employee whose
new-found skills can be applied to the benefit of the
business.

The fourth challenge we face is how to harness dyslexic
talent in the workplace. When unsupported, dyslexic
thinkers can become "trace-coverers" - fearful individuals
who may invest a lot of energy in avoiding or deferring
challenging tasks and finding excuses why they cannot be
done. When supported, however, dyslexic thinkers can be
among the most innovative and original contributors to a
company's success.

I know a dyslexic company director who has a flair for
designing systems to maximise company efficiency. He works
on a consultancy basis to a number of companies where he
gradually reduces his own role to a minimum - through the
same efficiency principles - then moves on to the next
company while staying on a retainer with the previous.

Some of your dyslexic thinkers will have excellent sales
and/or marketing skills. Others will be highly empathetic
and have great potential on an HR team. Yet others will be
good troubleshooters, yet others will excel in workplace
design and production processes, and so on.

In an environment where dyslexia is respected as a thinking
style, frank and open conversations can take place around a
person's natural strengths and challenges, ensuring that
each dyslexic thinker is placed in a context where they can
excel, both for their own benefit and for that of their
employer.

Making Marketing Work
Promoting with postcards by direct mail is one of the most
effective ways to reach your customers. Long experience has
shown this and a recent survey commissioned by an
independent firm out of Baltimore has demonstrated it again
recently.

The study found that 76% of people read direct mail that is
sent to them. Further, it found that the piece you send and
what is put on it are more important than ever. Up one
third from last year, 63% of people feel that the
appearance and message of the piece makes a difference in
their decision to respond. This is another reason postcards
perform well. The instant appeal and attraction of a
well-designed, full-color card certainly makes it stand out
amongst envelope-wrapped letters.

Statistics like those should help those who may feel
uncertain about investing in direct mail marketing
programs. In such cases, I have found they have usually
broken two key rules in their past attempts at direct mail
that caused a lack of success. These rules will help make
your direct marketing work and will give you a stable and
increased source of sales leads:

1. You must do something.

I am constantly surprised at the number of small business
owners who tell me that "we just get referrals" or that
direct mail marketing "doesn't work for us". Yet my next
question usually stops them cold. What marketing are you
doing? The vast majority of these businesses are not doing
any marketing at all! Yet they feel marketing doesn't work
for them. Of course it doesn't work if you don't use it.

So the first rule of direct mail marketing is that you must
do something--anything. Just about anything being sent out
gives one a basic level of outreach and will give you some
degree of response. And that promotion can then be
adjusted, focused, narrowed and targeted more exactly to
improve the response and build it higher and higher. But if
you don't do anything in the first place, you're not even
yet at Square One.

2. You must be regular and repetitive.

One-shot mailing leaves a lot of leads on the table. Your
mail piece is just one of the hundreds of messages glanced
at daily by the average customer. Even with a well-designed
piece that succeeds in gaining attention, a substantial
percentage of recipients will notice but not respond. Don't
just leave them there. More mailings will develop them into
customers.

Further, 69% percent of those surveyed above said that
their current needs and the timing of the offer mattered to
their response. Even if they aren't ready for you now,
continuing your mailings will increase their interest and
keep you in front of them. Then when they are ready, you're
right there.

Finally and most importantly, a regular mailing campaign
gives you stability in your business and its sales. It can
be easily measured that peaks of marketing outreach are
followed soon after by peaking sales. By maintaining a
regular and stable level of direct mail outflow, you will
find your leads and sales stabilizing as well.

Steel Buildings Go Green
Steel Buildings - Green Applications

Gone are the outdated corrugated metal buildings of the
past. The new generation of pre engineered steel buildings
are finding use in an ever growing variety of Green
building projects. Steel buildings are leading the way in
the Green building revolution, meeting Green building
design goals with innovative building design, engineering
and use of materials.

Building Green

Green building design, also known as "sustainable building"
is coming of age as we recognize that global resources are
limited and that climate change is inevitable - unless we
take positive action now.

Green building recognizes the environmental impact of
buildings, their construction, lifecycle and ultimate
demolition, and works to lessen this impact through

* Energy efficiency * Environmentally sound building
materials * Innovative building design * Healthy indoor
environment

Environmentally Friendly Pre-engineered Steel Buildings

Pre-engineered steel buildings also known as prefabricated
buildings or prefab metal buildings are an innovative
building solution featuring solid steel I-beam building
construction.

* Pre-engineered steel buildings are designed and
engineered by trained and certified structural metal
building engineers to meet all local building codes for
snow and wind load and seismic conditions.

* Steel building components are engineered and fabricated
to precise specifications in a steel building factory using
the highest grade commercial steel available.

* Modern steel manufacturers employ energy efficient
methods in steel production that help to substantially
reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

* When a steel building is demolished to make way for new
construction the metal building materials don't end up in a
landfill like asphalt shingles, concrete, brick and wood.
The steel is recycled instead.

* Steel can be recycled over and over again without loss of
the quality of the steel.

* More steel is recycled than all other recyclable
materials combined.

Cool Coatings Get Cool Energy Credit

"Cool" coatings are special siliconized polyester paints
with superior reflective qualities. "Cool" coatings applied
to steel buildings act as a thermal barrier to keep the
insides of steel buildings cool in summer. This means that
steel buildings coated with "cool" coatings use less
energy, making steel buildings more energy efficient. The
use of "cool" coatings for steel buildings saves money and
the environment through reduced energy costs over the life
of the building and can even qualify for Federal tax
credits.

Urban Heat Islands: Cool Roofs Bring Relief

Savvy builders are taking advantage of the fact that metal
building roofs reflect light and heat keeping buildings
cooler in hot weather. Plus, metal building roofs don't
store heat and radiate it back at night like other types of
roofs. This saves energy in cooling costs and helps save
the environment by lessening the urban "heat island"
effect. An "urban heat island" happens when urban concrete
and asphalt construction absorbs heat during the day then
radiates it back at night so that temperatures don't fall
at night as they normally would, and is a powerful
contributor to climate change and global warming.

In places like California, Texas and Florida, commercial
building construction is taking advantage of the "cool"
properties of steel building metal roofs for commercial
buildings such as warehouses, industrial manufacturing
plants, aircraft hangars, storage buildings, retail outlet
stores, auto dealerships, strip malls and more.

Metal building roofs also work to save energy and the
environment in cooler climates. A painted metal roof not
only reflects heat in summer, but also retains heat inside
the building on cool days, saving on heating costs and
keeping the indoor environment healthy and comfortable in
both summer and winter. New metal building roofs qualify
for Federal tax credits.

Steel Buildings: Cost Effective, Energy Efficient and Green

* Steel buildings don't require cutting down valuable
forests.

* Steel buildings are manufactured with a high proportion
of recycled content.

* Steel buildings employ sustainable building design and
construction and erect in less time than conventional
building construction.

* Steel buildings are fire and rust resistant and steel
buildings are virtually maintenance free.

* By their very nature, steel buildings are durable,
cost-effective, energy efficient and Green.

================== ARTICLE START ==================
Do you know what gym regulars call the surge of people who show
up in January as part of a New Year's resolution?

Tourists.

The same could be true with the influx of businesses that join
the blogosphere each and every day. Some join with the best of
intentions. Others start a blog because someone from marketing
twisted their arm. Still others were on a drunken bender and
couldn't find a tattoo shop, so they settled for starting a
blog.

The fact is that because of lack of time, commitment, or a good
strategy, the majority of these blogs fail. Later, when a
prospect finds these abandoned blogs--either through a forgotten
link on the company's Web site or a search engine
result--they're left with a negative impression of the company.

Don't let this happen to you! A blog is a terrible thing to
waste. It does take time and commitment, but with a plan in
place, your blog will increase your search engine visibility,
establish your credibility, and provide more online leads than
you can handle.

Here's a regimented workout that will help jumpstart a new or
stalled business blog and prevent you from being just another
tourist in the blogosphere.

(Please consult your physician before beginning any new
blogging regimen, and always remember to stretch.)

Write Three Posts a Week

Once your blog has an established readership you may be able to
cut back on your frequency, but to begin you should plan on
writing three times a week. Schedule recurring blocks of time in
your calendar so "urgent" but less important items don't
prevent.

Posts can be of varying lengths and varying styles. Numbered
lists, how-to articles and commentary on your or your customers'
industries are proven winners.

To ensure that people can find your posts, use keyword-rich
titles that will drive traffic from the search engines. "Some
Thoughts I Shared with HR" will never outperform "Employee
Retention: 10 Ways to Keep Star Performers Happy."

Estimated Time: 2 hours/week.

Leave Two Comments a Week

One of the most important things you can do for the success of
your blog is to network with other bloggers in your niche and
become part of the community. This means reading and commenting
on related blogs.

The comments you leave on other blogs create links back to your
own blog. Although comment links rarely carry any search engine
benefit, intelligent comments will attract notice from the blog
owner and his or her readers, driving qualified leads to your
own blog.

Estimated Time: 1 - 2 hours/week, including reading time.

Blog Popular Search Terms

Blog search engines like Icerocket and Technorati often display
the most popular current search terms. If you can work a popular
topic into a new post you place your blog in front of thousands
of potential new readers.

Just make sure the topic is relevant to your business; while
more visitors are nice, the goal here is to get prospects
reading your blog. Working an American Idol reference into your
blog on global commodities trading probably won't bring you a
lot of repeat visitors.

Estimated Time: 2 minutes/post.

Make It Easy for People Subscribe & Share

I'm always perplexed when I discover a blog that doesn't offer
an RSS feed, or relegates it to some dusty corner or to the
bottom of the page. One of a blog's biggest strengths is its
ability to syndicate content. People can subscribe and receive
new posts whether or not they're at your blog.

Feedburner and Feedblitz are two services you can integrate
into your blog that allows visitors to subscribe via RSS feed or
email.

You should also leverage the current fascination with social
media by adding appropriate bookmarking tools to the bottom of
each post. Giving readers the ability to add your post to Digg,
Facebook, Twitter, or any other social networking site with a
single click increases the chance that they'll spread the word
about your blog.

Estimated Time: Less than 1 hour of setup time when you start
your blog.

In Conclusion

An abandoned blog is a black eye for any business. A regularly
updated, narrowly focused blog is a powerful magnet for search
engines, new business, and journalists looking to speak with an
industry expert.

By dedicating the time necessary to building a strong blog,
you'll have your investment returned to you a hundred times over
in search engine visibility, new prospects and lower customer

Is hypnosis effective in the fight to quit smoking?

Few people realize that Sigmund Freud's first love was
hypnosis. In 1887 Freud translated Bernheim's On Suggestion and
its Therapeutic Application into German. He also added a preface
to this material and readily practiced hypnosis. Charcot was his
inspiration and he made it apparent that he agreed with Charcot
above all. Generally he endorsed the use of hypnotherapy in all
of its' forms and used it as his basis for the subconscious.

Generally, hypnosis tries to input ideas, suggestions, and
priorities directly to the sub conscious mind. The same theories
are used in subliminal suggestions. Many hypnotherapists involve
several theories in their extinguishing process. For example,
many non-smoking hypnosis sessions have had participants smoke
many cigarettes back to back. The result was nicotine overload
that typically ended in vomiting. The vomiting was then
associated with the act of smoking a cigarette.

In addition, all participants are lead through a progression of
relaxation exercises designed to leave the unconscious available
for input. In that space messages are placed that are opposed to
smoking. Such as, "smoking cigarettes is poison" or, "I don't
smoke because I value myself". Often other suggestions such as
alternatives to smoking are also incorporated.

In May of 2000, Ohio State University studied 59 separate
studies to evaluate the effectiveness of hypnotherapy in smoking
cessation. The study found that it was effective compared to the
control group and that it is most effective when paired with
other therapies such as behavior modification. In fact, the best
way to quit smoking is to combine several available therapies.
In addition to hypnotherapy and behavior modification, nicotine
substitutes such as nicotine gum and the nicotine patch have
been shown helpful.

After the initial hypnotherapy session, follow up visits and
home activities that reinforce the therapy are important. So
hypnotherapists use audio tapes to facilitate home relaxation
and hypnotherapy. Support groups are also used in conjunction
with hypnotherapy and have been shown to be therapeutically
beneficial. The most effective method will differ from person to
person and that's why it is important to find a qualified
professional for help. When seeking hypnotherapy, consider the
following:

• Ask for references! Check several references before you
obtain the services of any professional.

• Interview the hypnotherapist. Most professionals will be
happy to have a brief consultation and answer any questions. If
they aren't willing to do this, find another professional.

• Ask a medical professional who they would recommend. Many
doctors and nurses have contacts with a variety of cessation
programs and they typically give qualified recommendations.

• Contact an association of professionals. Consider the British
Association of Therapeutical Hypnotists ,GHR, the British
Society of Clinical, or the British Society of Medical & Dental
Hypnosis.

• Make sure your provider offers a complete program. Ask about
their suggested combination therapies to maximize your chances
of quitting.

Many ask if everyone is capable of being hypnotized. The only
requirements are that you be cooperative, have an IQ of 70 or
above, and are free from any major mental health issues so most
anyone can potentially benefit from hypnotherapy. As with any
treatment your success depends on several variables but hypnosis
can help you become smoke free once and for all.

================== ARTICLE START ==================
LSI is an abbreviation for Latent Semantic Indexing, which is
essentially a fancy term for an old technology that is being
revived for use in search engine algorithms. The purpose of
Latent Semantic Indexing is to determine the true meaning behind
a website by analyzing the relationships existing between the
words that make up its content.

Google is the search engine that is making this concept a
reality, beginning to implement this age old technology to
better create an understanding of the relationships that link
words together in website content.

In essence, what this means is that Google can send it's
spiders to your website, and they will sift through all of your
website content, looking at each word rather than just the major
keywords that are being used repetitively. This is so if your
primary keyword is 'salt', Google's search engine spiders can
analyze your website to determine if you are referring to Veruca
Salt, Table Salt, Sea Salt or Bath Salts.

This is done by looking at other words that you are using in
your website content. If Latent Semantic Indexing finds that you
are using words like spa, bath, lotion, soaps, and relaxation
and so on, then Google will be able to ascertain that you are
referring to bath salts rather than dinner salts.

Latent Semantic Indexing is an important technology because it
is changing the way search engines look at website content, and
making it possible for websites that feature well written,
meaningful content to receive better ranks in search engines
than content that is simply keyword intensive and nothing else.
While this technology is still heavily in its developing stages,
it is already showing great progress in improving how the Google
search engine works and ranks websites.

Latent Semantic Indexing is definitely showing a lot of
potential. Because it ranks websites based on their content and
the correct usage of words, people who keyword-stuff their
websites will no longer find themselves ranking high in search
engines that use this technology. This means a lot for
webmasters who know how to utilize well written and relevant
website content on their websites. These are the webmasters who
will be rewarded with high search engine rankings and placement
because these are the websites that offer content that web
surfers are looking for.

There are a number of reasons for why webmasters should utilize
LSI when creating their website content and blog content, and
here are three of the most prevalent -

3 - Webmasters are no longer required to stuff their website
content with keywords and key phrases, which also means there
will be no more competing between similar companies to "win" the
most important keywords, because when it comes to latent
semantic indexing, keywords are only part of the equation.
Instead, webmasters can focus on writing content that flows
naturally, and that is informative rather than stuffed full of
illegible keywords.

2 - If you are trying to deliver real content to your readers,
latent semantic indexing makes it easier for web surfers to find
you. If your website uses keywords, phrases and content related
to "Chile peppers", and Latent Semantic Indexing indicates that
the key term "Chile peppers" is related to the key term "hot
peppers", then any time a web surfer searches for "hot peppers",
search engines like Google will be prompted to return your
website as a result even if the keywords do not perfectly match.
Not only does this help webmasters get seen - It helps web
surfers finally find exactly what they need, the first time.

1 - Webmasters who focus on writing meaningful, useful and
relevant content for their websites will finally be rewarded.
Rather than having to compete for the best keywords just to see
a glimpse of a good rank in popular search engines like Google,
webmasters will finally be rewarded with high page ranks simply
because they are offering authority sites on a subject,
delivering the content people want to read. This concept is
revolutionizing the search engine concept, and finally putting
the right websites in the right ranks.

Latent Semantic Indexing is a technology with a lot of
potential. If you are not already utilizing the concept of this
technology when writing your website content, you are missing
out on serious progress that will change the face of how
internet searches are conducted drastically.

Title: Financial Planning & Money Management -- Who's Really
Responsible For The Debt Crisis In Our Country?

================== ARTICLE START ==================
If you're like a lot of people living in the U.S. today, you
probably haven't saved nearly as much as you can or should at
this point in your life. Whatever the reason may be -- and there
are plenty of reasons or excuses -- saving money is a discipline
that too many of us have ignored, forgotten, or never learned.
Overall, the working population in our country has recently been
experiencing a negative annual savings rate. A negative savings
rate simply means we are spending more money than we earn, and
we're borrowing the money to make up for the shortfall.

The U.S. economy has long been known and admired as one of the
greatest consumer economies in the world. We are privileged to
live in "the land of opportunity." But we have also become
accustomed to believing that opportunity is something we should
expect rather than respect, and too many of us have squandered
our personal financial resources in favor of instant
gratification. In short, we have become spoiled.

In recent years, we've seen numerous lending companies and
financial institutions offering a variety of interest-only loans
and other creative come-ons to entice us to buy things we really
can't afford. As of this writing, we are facing economic
recession in part because of the huge problem with overextended
mortgages and other bad consumer debt. We have allowed ourselves
to live beyond our means.

Lending companies will always look for new ways to make money
at our expense. But it is our personal responsibility to commit
to such offers only if we understand the consequences and are
willing to accept responsibility for the commitment. Have you
ever heard the term "caveat emptor?" It simply means: Buyer
beware. Remember it, and the advice will serve you well. Risky
financial products and services wouldn't exist if enough of us
were smart enough not to buy them.

The situation has become so untenable that our federal
government is now stepping in to help those of us who committed
to mortgage loans we couldn't afford and the finance companies
who offered them. Who do you think is going to pay for it? Is it
any wonder that the real estate market has suffered? And why do
you see so many advertisements for companies that will help you
get out of credit card debt for less than you owe? Just like the
mortgage crisis, credit card debt has also become a serious and
growing problem, and if you're in their target audience then you
are also part of the problem.

Abdicate your personal financial responsibility now, and you
will eventually pay the price later when you seek credit for a
new mortgage or need financing for some other important
obligation. Ultimately, we all pay the price for those who
neglect responsibility or mismanage their debt obligations. The
last thing any of us should do is look to government agencies
for help. (After all, how good are they at managing our money?)
Look in the mirror, first. And if that doesn't help you come to
your senses, then think of your family's future.

It's a house of cards… The U.S. dollar has crashed on the world
market because the Fed has had to drop interest rates to
compensate for our bad habits and internal economic weakness.
Such a condition doesn't make investment in the U.S. dollar
attractive to anyone on the global stage. As a result, the U.S.
stock market has also followed suit in the decline… Where do you
have your 401k or IRA retirement savings? I'll bet it's
primarily invested in the U.S. stock market. Historically,
that's a good long term choice, and there's no reason to suggest
that it won't be in the future. Recessions will come and go. But
if we continue to let our debt obligations get out of control,
our financial future will certainly not be a comfortable one.

What can you do? …Save before you buy. Learn from past
mistakes. Stop relying on credit cards, and don't commit to
anything you may not be able to afford now or pay for in the
future. Take on a second job if necessary to pay off your
existing consumer debt. Create your own personal financial plan
and stick to it. Set up a budget that works within your plan,
live within your means, and look for sound opportunities that
can satisfy your future financial needs within your ability to
save and your tolerance for risk. Never expect or ask anyone
else to "bail you out" of a bad personal decision (especially
the government). Look before you leap, and take responsibility
for your own actions or inactions before you blame someone else
for your misfortune.
